Back To School

For children and youth experiencing foster care, starting a new school year with the right clothes, supplies, and essentials can provide more than preparation, it can bring confidence, dignity, and a sense of belonging.

Since 2011, Voices For Children has partnered with Old Navy to help ensure children and youth across Miami-Dade can begin the school year feeling prepared and supported. Over the years, more than 4,400 children have benefited from Voices’ Back to School initiative.

2026 Back to School Event

On July 28, 2026, children and youth joined Voices For Children, volunteers, and community partners for our annual Back to School event. Young people had the opportunity to shop for new school clothes, select backpacks and supplies, and head into the new school year with essentials they could feel excited about.

More than a shopping experience, the day was about giving children the opportunity to make their own choices, express themselves, and start the school year knowing their community is behind them.
